Artist Statement: A Page in a Life is something of a character study of my grandfather Charles Allard, he has spent 60+ years of his life as a reverend and minister and throughout his whole life he has collected a lot of bibles. I wanted to document and present some bibles not as a commentary of religion but as a study of life, people like my grandfather rely so much on the Bible that I wanted to see what they actually put into the object and what that says about themselves. Some of these are bibles my grandfather personally used, others are bibles from his father or his grandfather, but they have all ended up in his possession one way or another, so feel free to explore and analyze what we can gather from a page in a life.
